Kingdom Come: Deliverance: plunge into the atmosphere of Middle Ages
A historical novel with elements of the role-playing game, that is the correct way to characterize Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Bohemia, 1403 year. The protagonist of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance is Henry, the son of a blacksmith, who lives an ordinary medieval life. Helps his father, hustles as the maid in the inn, there he spends evenings with friends. One day everything changes: the village is attacked by enemies, parents and most of the inhabitants are killed, and Henry runs to the neighboring city to warn of the impending danger.
In the first hours of the Kingdom Come: Deliverance acts in the genre of a commoner’s life simulator. Henry performs the instructions of his master, sometimes he goes to the local tavern to eat and sleeps on a straw bed.
More or less intelligible battles occur on the thirtieth hour of the game. Before that, there are a couple of skirmishes with bandits in the forest and fisticuffs for money.
The plot develops slowly, giving players an opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of the medieval Czech Republic. Henry is destined for a glorious fate: he has to avenge his parents, but this will not happen soon.
In the Kingdom Come: Deliverance at the 15th hour, the hero walks in rags with a rusty sword (which he does not yet know how to properly handle) and tries to find any extra work to buy food and clean clothes.
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the authors chose, at first glance, not the most impressive historical period. The struggle of two brothers for the throne of the Czech Republic at the beginning of the XV century and the reformist ideas of Jan Hus against the background of civil strife. Kingdom Come: Deliverance, telling the personal history of Henry, is trying to show what the Middle Ages are and how people lived at that time.
Travelling through a massive open world, a player visits villages, towns, and castles, communicates with citizens, learns about the political life of the country. Kingdom Come: Deliverance has its own ‘Wikipedia’, which briefly describes all the phenomena that the player encounters during his adventures: from the taxation system to the biography of historical characters.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance has a considerable amount of small things that you do not notice immediately. If you appear in dirty and stinking clothes in front of grandees, it will be difficult to defend your interests. Nobody wants to communicate with a commoner in rags.
Before an important meeting, it is better to wash clothes, give them to a tailor to patch, and it would be nice to visit a bathhouse. On an extreme occasion, to wash in a tub.
